Virgin Media Tivo – Remote Control Programming

Saturday June 16, 2012

Quickest way to program your Virgin Media Tivo remote to operate your television volume is shown below!  Took me a while to find out about this method so I’m posting a copy of the instructions here to help others.

[From the VM Help and Support Forum]

Searching for a TV remote control code

1. Press and hold down and at the same time until the light on the top of the remote flashes green twice.

2. Enter the code 0999 to access the TV code database – the LED will flash green twice.

3. Press channel up until a code turns off the TV – the LED will flash green each time a code is sent.

4. When the TV turns off, release channel up and press on the remote to turn the TV back on.

5. Press and to check that the remote is working with your TV. If they don’t, continue to search using channel up until the next code turns off the TV, and repeat steps 4 and 5.

6. When the Volume and Mute keys work, press to store the code. The LED will then flash green twice.

7. If you reach the end of the code database, the light on top of the remote will give an extended red flash and exit programming mode

Hope that helps!

Lies, damn lies, and statistics about red light jumping

Do 57% of UK cyclists jump red lights? One motoring organisation claims so – on very flimsy evidence…

New Thule Bike Racks

Sunday April 15, 2012

I’ve bought two bike holders/racks for my roof rack.  This is one of my steps to get out cycling more this year!  🙂

I went for the Thule 532 FreeRide from roofracks.co.uk – where I previously bought my roof rack.  They have  a wide range of roof racks and cycle carriers available online.  If you’re local, then you can also visit their showroom in Borough Green, Kent, to look at things before you buy.

I haven’t used my carriers yet but the Thule roof rack I bought has been used and has proved to be an excellent investment.

New Tilley

Sunday March 18, 2012

Well, one of the benefits of owning a Tilley hat is that if you lose it then you can claim a replacement direct from Tilley and only pay 50% of the cost.  My replacement arrived within days of sending in my claim.  Fantastic service.

Oh, and if your Tilley ever wears out, Tilley will give you a replacement hat… for nothing!  Free!

Great hats.

Tilley Hat – LOST!

Sunday March 11, 2012

© Tilley My trusted Tilley TH5 hat has been lost!  On the 3rdof March we were enjoying a very nice weekend in the Brecon Beacons, taking some time to enjoy the mountains and walks.  Whilst out on the top of a ridge, my Tilley was snatched by the very strong winds and blown off the cliff.  Despite the Tilley being secured by its strings to my head, the wind just took it.

It bounced and rolled along the heather before vanishing over the cliff.  I was very upset!  These are great hats and they should last a lifetime.

Me and the Tilley parted company here: N51.86272 W3.42975 (Google Maps). A sad, sad day.

Hopefully, someone will find it and return it to me in the future.
