Rugby: Wales 21 Australia 18

Sunday November 30, 2008

Despite being Welsh, yesterday saw my first trip to an international rugby match – and what a day to go!  The tickets were very kindly donated by some great work colleagues and they were some good seats at the end of the field at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium.

Having only watch rugby on the TV before, I wasn’t really ready for the excitement and spectacle of a match in ‘person’.  The noise, the smell, the cheering, the singing and the roar as the Welsh team ran out on to the field.  Music blarring, huge flames leaping 30 feet into the air… the pride!  This is Welsh rugby.  This IS Wales!

Over 74,000 people attended the match.  The Cardiff streets around the stadium prior to the match were a sea of red, with the occasional yellow of the Australian supporters.  No hassle, no fear.  Australians mingled with the Welsh in a friendly and joyous atmosphere.

And the result: a tense but exciting win for Wales!

LoveFilm – DVDs via post

Sunday November 16, 2008

I’ve just posted back my latest film to the Internet-based DVD service LoveFilm.  It’s a really good service which I’ve been using for the past few years and it takes a lot of the hassle out of renting films.  Just create an account, select your monthly package, then start adding films to your wish list.

I’m on the £3.99/month package which gives me two DVDs each month (one at home at any one time) – which is fine for my requirements as I’m not a huge film fan.

There are no late fees, no limits, the DVDs turn up in the post, you watch and then post it back in the prepaid envelope.  Easy.

LoveFilm just selects DVDs from your wish list (which you can rank for priority) and then sends them to you.  There are many packages available from the light user through to unlimited.  Take a look today!
